About Me
Hi, I'm Eleanor, a costume maker with an MA in Historical Costume, currently working as a Costume Technical Demonstrator at Buckinghamshire New University. I have been awarded Runner Up for The Costume Society's Patterns of Fashion competition 2022 with my 18th century frock coat recreation featuring hand embroidery and a digitally printed waistcoat. I was first interested in costume construction when I was very young, visiting historical re-enactments with my parents and my two brothers. I've always been interested in historical garments due to the beautiful fabrics and detailing as well as the stunning shapes created. One of my favourite things to do is curl up on the sofa in front of the TV hand sewing. Over the last few years I've been busy researching and finding out how historical garments are constructed and supported from the inside out. I'm very keen on historical costuming and furthering my knowledge of historical pattern cutting and construction.
